Dog Stabbed After Altercation In Red Bluff

Aggression’s between two men at a Red Bluff park were taken out on a dog. A little before 9 O’clock Tuesday morning a 31-year-old man and a 47-year-old man were involved in an altercation at Dog Island Park. Red Bluff Police haven’t said what the fight was about, but at one point the 31-year-old tried to end it by walking away with his dog at his side. The 47-year-old man apparently wasn’t done and he followed them until the dog defended his master by biting the other man’s leg and both arms. The man pulled out a knife and stabbed the dog twice, killing him. The 2-year-old Pit Bull died at the scene. The man was treated at a hospital for his dog bites. Nobody was arrested. The police department will send the case to the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office for them to review possible charges of assault with a deadly weapon, animal cruelty and battery. The names of the men have not been released.
