Salmon To Be Released Into Feather River

A Million of the Salmon that were rescued from the Feather River hatchery in Oroville when the water got too murky last month have been released to fend for themselves. The Central Valley Spring-run Chinook had been taken to the Thermalito annex hatchery and were held until Monday when fisheries scientists thought the conditions were right. With the water still high the fish should be able to imprint the location as home and move downstream before the levels get low and murky again in the shadow of the dam repairs. Another Million remain at the annex to be released when they’re ready, as well as 3 Million Fall-run Chinook.
