New local sales tax rates take effect on April First in many California cities and counties. Yreka will have a half cent boost to 7.75%. In Ukiah the tax goes up to 8.75%. In Clearlake and Lakeport it’s going up a full cent to 8.75%. Fortuna is going to 8.5%. Orland is going up a half-cent to 7.75%. There are also sales tax hikes in the entire counties of Merced, Monterey, Nevada, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sonoma and Stanislaus. All of the tax increases resulted from voter approved initiatives.
