Man Suffers Major Injuries During Rollover Near Corning

A man from Paradise was badly hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Corning Saturday morning. 63-year-old Jimmy Ellison was driving an Olds Bravada westbound on South Avenue when he allowed the van to drift off the road near Woodson Avenue. he tried to straighten out but overcorrected and the van shot back across the road to the other side as it overturned, then collided with a mailbox and a wire fence before rolling over at least one more time and coming to rest on its wheels in someone’s front yard. Ellison suffered major injures including deep scalp lacerations and he was flown to Enloe Hospital. His passengers, 20-year-old Chelsie Ellison and a 13-year-old girl, had various complaints of pain and were taken to Saint Elizabeth. The CHP does not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
