Annual Aerial Firefighting Training Planned For This Week

Firefighting aircraft will buzz the skies above Shasta County this week. Aerial firefighting crews from Cal-Fire and the Forest Service are conducting joint tactical training exercises. Last week was the classroom portion of the training. This week they take to the skies. Students will coordinate airtankers, helicopters, military firefighting aircraft, and smoke jumpers. Each year they work a simulated fire in the area of Oak Run and Whitmore.
