Two east Redding schools were locked down briefly Tuesday morning after a suspected car thief took a wrong turn. At around 7:30 an officer tried to stop a Saturn sedan for running a stop sign on Larkspur Lane. The driver led the officer on a short chase and wound up heading south on June Street, which dead ends at Parson’s Junior High. When the car stopped, the driver and a passenger both got out and ran. Parson’s, as well as Rother Elementary School, were both locked down while Redding Police searched for the suspects with help from a CHP helicopter. The pair ran across the freeway and they were last seen running south on C Street. Their identities are unknown.
