Council Tables Fast Internet Utility, Approves Sobering Center Funding

Redding City Councilman Adam McElvain floated his idea to the council Tuesday night for a super-fast municipal Internet utility. He says the main west coast fiber artery runs along the railroad tracks so there’s a prime opportunity to build high speed fiber network. He was told by his colleagues to come back with more information in a few months

The Redding City Council Tuesday night approved using $375,000 from the sale of the old downtown police station building as seed money to establish a sobering center. The county would help pay for it.
