Update: Coroner Id’s Boy Who Drown At Lake Shasta

Another tragic drowning occurred over the weekend on the McCloud Arm of Lake Shasta, this time taking the life of a 7-year-old boy. A family from Salinas was houseboating and had spent Friday night moored to the shore near Shasta Caverns. Saturday morning the boat wouldn’t start and as the family was busy cooking breakfast and trying to fix the boat, they lost track of their young son. They started looking around for him on the boat and on land, and then they saw his flip-flops floating in the water behind the houseboat. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Boating Safety Unit, dive team and search and rescue tracking and mountain rescue teams all responded to the cove at Marble Creek. After about a half-hour, divers found the body Of Julian Zamora in about 17 feet of water near the back of the boat.
