Although the underwater search for the body of Austin Strole was suspended on Thursday, it was continued Friday when the dive team from Siskiyou County showed up with a sonar unit. The used the device towed behind a boat, and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office did more searching with their own sonar equipment and underwater robot. The search around Digger Bay reached down to over 200 feet below the surface. More searching continued over the weekend for the 12-year-old boy, who was hit by a boat while tubing last Monday. A young girl was driving the boat and the only adult on board, 50-year-old Robert Noftz, was arrested for boating under the influence of alcohol. The sheriff’s office is still seeking witnesses to the incident.
