Robbery Suspect Captured After Fighting With Deputies

A shoplifting attempt became pandemonium at a West Redding convenience store. At 5 after 5 Sunday afternoon 22-year-old Enrique Lopez walked into the Eureka Way 7-11 with an open beer and the clerk asked him to leave. Lopez went outside, finished his beer, then came in to buy more beer but the clerk refused to sell it to him. Lopez then allegedly got some ice cream and started to walk out with it but was confronted by the clerk’s brother, Pankaz Gill. Lopez and Gill got into a fight over the ice cream until the store manager pepper-sprayed Lopez, who reportedly threatened to kill Gill with a gun. Lopez then allegedly broke the glass front door of the 7-11 with an empty bottle before getting in a car and driving away. He returned soon after and was approaching Gill with a knife in his hand when a Shasta County Sheriff’s Sergeant and Deputy showed up. Lopez resisted their attempts to detain him and had to go to the hospital before going to jail for robbery, felony vandalism, terrorist threats and felony resisting arrest.
