Special Meeting Planned To Discuss Crime In Redding

Crime in Redding will be addressed at a special Redding City Council meeting next Thursday. There will be a presentation about public safety ordinances and an overview of impacts resulting from legislation in recent years, including AB-109 and Propositions 47 and 57. The floor will then open to the public for comments, questions, suggestions and undoubtedly some scathing criticism of whomever is perceived as responsible for Redding crime. The meeting is set for next Thursday July 27th from 4PM to 7PM in the council chambers. Two council members, Francie Sullivan and Kristen Shreder, are the targets of a recall campaign by a group that says not enough has been done for public safety. The signature gathering process has not yet begun and it’s not known if enough will be gathered to call a special election.
