K-9 Helps Nab Burglary Suspect

A Big Bend man made a lot of damage while stealing from a convenience store, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. Sunday morning the owner of the Pit Stop discovered the place had been broken into overnight. He called deputies and when they reviewed surveillance footage. They recognized Sampson Taylor as he was seen breaking a window and climbing inside. He allegedly caused more than $3000 worth of damage and made off with about $2500 worth of beer, cigarettes, food and money from the cash register. A tip from a Big Bend resident led deputies to search around the community center, where they found Taylor with help from Blitz the K-9. He was booked into jail for burglary and felony vandalism.
