Update: Man Who Escaped From Courtroom Captured Near Hornbrook

A Yreka man who bolted from a courtroom on Friday morning has been captured. 33-year-old David Wayne Caldwell had just been remanded into custody by a judge and before a bailiff could restrain him he ran and escaped from the courthouse. An intensive search of the area followed and a couple of hours later Yreka Police were told of a man fitting the description walking behind a Main Street business. As officers closed in on him, the man started running toward Interstate 5 and jumped the fence that runs along the freeway. Siskiyou County Deputies saw the man walking along I-5. They went after him but he ran and jumped back over the fence. He was eventually captured, but he wasn’t Caldwell. He was Michael Thompson, who had run because he had a felony warrant. David Caldwell was located Monday morning in a trailer park in the Hornbrook area, and was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail.
