Bomb Squad Disables Pipe Bombs At Rodeo Grounds

The Shasta County Bomb Squad was called to the Redding Rodeo Grounds Thursday afternoon. At around 4 O’clock Redding Police were called on a report of a man with a gun in the boat launch parking lot. They spoke with 46-year-old Arnut Tungsununt of Washington State. He was standing at the back of his car near a shotgun that turned out to be a replica. Inside the car was 29-year-old Kierra Bowman. While talking to them officers noticed some items in the back of the car that looked a lot like pipe bombs. Tungsununt at first refused to say anything about them but eventually he reportedly acknowledged they were, in fact, pipe bombs. The immediate area was evacuated and the bomb squad came. With the use of their robot, they rendered the bombs safe. While searching the car officers reported finding a zip gun and an illegal edged weapon. Tungsununt was arrested for the weapons. Bowman was arrested for allegedly being on drugs.
