6 Tons Of Garbage Removed Near Sacramento River In Red Bluff

Tehama County officials have hauled a massive amount of trash out of an area on the Sacramento River in Red Bluff. The effort was coordinated by the sheriff’s office, who put an inmate crew to work and removed almost 6 tons of garbage from several homeless camps on Spider Island, located in the Sacramento River slough north of Antelope Boulevard. The probation department, fish and wildlife, and Red Bluff Police assisted and Durango RV Park donated the use of a loader. Officials were concerned about getting the waste out of the area before winter rains raise the river level enough to inundate the area. Deputies had swept through the area on July 26th to warn people that the cleanup was coming. The work was all done Tuesday and deputies returned to the area Wednesday morning to issue trespass warnings to people who had returned overnight.
