Long Time Retired Officer Passes Away Unexpectedly

Redding Police are mourning the unexpected loss of a retired veteran officer. Doug Carney was only 57-year-old when he died Wednesday morning. He was a member of local law enforcement for 28 years. Carney was a motor officer with Redding Police for many years before becoming an investigator. He also worked for the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office before his time with the RPD, and after retirement he served as a part-time deputy marshal. He also was president of Kool April Nites. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
