A Redding man is accused of stabbing a roommate. At 12:30PM Monday afternoon Redding Police were called to a home on Stetson Way. They arrived to find 67-year-old Paul Wilke, who’s confined to a wheelchair, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his head and one arm. Other residents say they had previously heard 65-year-old Mark O’Neal announce his plans to kill Wilke Monday. O’Neal is a cancer patient who shares a bedroom with Wilke and another man. Witnesses say that O’Neal was seen arming himself with a knife and then he began stabbing Wilke with no provocation. At one point he apparently walked out of the bedroom and said “call the paramedics he’s hurt pretty bad”, and then went back in to do more stabbing. Wounds are believed to be non-life threatening. O’Neal will be charged with attempted murder.
