Proposed Fee Increases At Whiskeytown Subject Of Public Meeting

A weblink has been provided for those who want to comment on a proposal to substantially increase entrance fees to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Currently a vehicle weekly pass for Whiskeytown is $10 and that would double to $20. The $10 motorcycle pass would go up to $15. Park Superintendent Jim Milestone says the fees are used to make improvements. Money has been used in the past to replace the courtesy docks at Oak Bottom Marina, renovate the Whiskey Creek Picnic Area, and install toilets and a parking lot at Crystal Creek Falls. Future projects include resurfacing the upper one mile section of Brandy Creek Road and replace the Oak Bottom snack bar. A town hall meeting to discuss the fee increase will take place at Redding City Hall this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30PM. Follow the link below to comment.
