Crews Battle 10 Acre Fire Near Hat Creek

A motorhome on Highway 89 near Hat Creek caught fire, and it spread to vegetation. The highway was closed for a while from the intersection of Highway 299 to the intersection of Highway 44. At around 4 O’clock a Cal-Trans pilot car began escorting traffic through the fire scene. The fire had started at around 2:15PM involving a 25 foot motor home and trailer. They were fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. By then the vegetation fire had spread and a full wildland response was called out. Forward progress of the fire was stopped at about 10 acres. Homes had been threatened, but crews from Cal-Fire, Burney, Fall River and a number of volunteer companies managed to prevent any structural damage.
