A stolen car was recovered in South Redding overnight before the owner knew it was gone. At 11:30PM Sunday night a Redding Police Officer spotted a Honda Civic speeding through the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park off Cedars Road. When he tried to catch up to it the driver stopped, got out and ran away. A check of the license plate showed the car registered to someone on Cumberland Drive and when he was contacted he said he thought the car was still parked in front of his house. Abel the police K-9 was brought to the scene. He sniffed around the drivers seat and got a scent, which he tracked to 22-year-old Shaina Tanner hiding a short distance away between a shed and a fence. She was booked into jail and the Honda was returned to its owner.
