Footprints Lead To Burglar

A Tehama County man who tried to break into a house and failed was busted anyway after an associate cracked under pressure. Tehama County Deputies were told by a property owner that an alarm company had alerted him to a possible break-in.  His garage door had been damaged by somebody trying to pry it open. The investigating deputies followed a distinct set of footprints that led from the scene and ended at the rear of a nearby motel. That’s where they found 34-year-old Howard Monroe Todd, who was wearing shoes with tread that matched the footprints. That wasn’t quite enough evidence for an arrest but when deputies interrogated Todd’s friend, he eventually confessed that he had served as a lookout while Todd attempted the burglary. Todd has been sentenced to 8 months in jail.
