Preliminary Hearing Date Set For Man Accused Of Random Stabbing

A Southern California probationer has been arraigned for an alleged knife attack against a Redding man. Last Thursday morning, Redding Police were called to Dana Drive and Churn Creek Road. 23-year-old Jesse Wynn of Huntington Beach had reportedly run across the street with a knife raised in one hand, which he used to stab 27-year-old Joseph Anaya repeatedly. The two had apparently never met. When a bystander intervened and got the knife away from Wynn, he allegedly tried and failed to carjack a pickup truck from an Oak Run man. Officers found Wynn covered in blood in the Target parking lot. Anaya was hospitalized with stab wounds to his face, chest and lower torso. Wynn had been in Redding for less than a month and had already been arrested three other times. He was arraigned Tuesday for attempted murder, inflicting great bodily injury and other crimes.  His preliminary hearing is set for August 31st.
