Drive-By Shooting Suspect Captured In Anderson

An arrest has been made in a drive-by shooting reported in Happy Valley last weekend. Witnesses said that a little after Midnight Saturday night Gregory Prado and four other people were standing in the driveway of Prado’s home on Strawberry Lane when a man in a Mustang drove up and started shooting, striking Prado with numerous rounds before driving away at high speed. Prado’s friends transported him to Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated for his non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and later released. Through further investigation and interviews sheriff’s detectives have learned it was not a drive-by shooting and they’ve identified the shooter as 21-year-old Carlos Stephen Boykin. The story now is that when Boykin arrived he got out of the car and walked inside the house to confront Prado, who was with Boykin’s girlfriend and Boykin’s one-month-old daughter. After allegedly shooting Prado several times, Boykin walked out and drove away. Boykin was apparently upset about his girlfriend spending time with Prado and the two had a confrontation earlier in the week, during which Boykin allegedly said he would return with a gun. Thursday morning detectives staked out Boykin’s home on Aster Street in Anderson until they determined he was inside and took him into custody. He’s been booked into jail for attempted murder.
