Police Name Man Who Caused Bomb Scare

A few more details have been clarified concerning Wednesday night’s bomb scare in East Redding. Redding Police were contacted by Tehachapi Police and other Kern County law enforcement, who requested help with an investigation of 48-year-old Jeffrey Dean Enslow.  He’s currently in the Kern County Jail, and is a former resident of 1446 Victor Avenue. A search warrant was served at the home at 1 O’clock Wednesday afternoon and in the garage a large quantity of powder material was found in a bucket that was labeled “danger explosive”. Other items were also found that can be used in bomb making. About 350 surrounding homes and businesses were ordered to evacuate and Victor Avenue was closed from Dana Drive to Old Alturas. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was called, and their routine is a long slow process, during which many of the evacuees passed their time at the Crosspointe Community Church. The bomb squad’s robot retrieved a sample of the material for testing. It turned out to be a non-explosive precursor chemical used for bomb making but was not dangerous. Residents were allowed to return home just before Midnight. Another search warrant was served on Rolling View Drive in North Redding, where more evidence in the case was reportedly seized.
