Alleged Car Thief Eludes Pursuing Deputies

A stolen car was recovered Friday after a chase through Red Bluff, although the thief got away. The Lexus GS 300 was reported stolen from Monroe Street Thursday morning, and was then spotted on Walnut Street at around 11:30AM Friday morning. When officers got there the driver took off at high speed and the chase was on. The thief drove with complete disregard for pubic safety during the midday pursuit, running stop signs and driving very fast through normally quiet but crowded city streets. In order to divert a tragedy officers gave up the chase in the area of King and Wilder Roads as the Lexus continued on. Later in the day Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies found the car abandoned off of Live Oak Road and it was returned to its owner.
