Redding Police have a new futuristic tool to perform tasks too dangerous for humans. The department recently acquired a second-hand robot from the U.S. Military. The “Packbot” robot has multiple cameras, can carry and manipulate medium size objects and can be operated remotely from several hundred feet away. SWAT Team officers are training to use the robot for a variety of tactical situations to reduce the exposure of officers.
