RPD Planning DUI Checkpoint For Thursday

A sobriety checkpoint will be held in Redding Thursday evening. The Redding Police Department will be conducting a DUI and drivers license checkpoint between the hours of 6PM and 11PM. The department does not announce the location ahead of time, but it’ll be somewhere within city limits. Working with grant money, officers are supporting a new effort by the Office of Traffic Safety to educate drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze”.  Drivers will be screened for signs of impairment due to alcohol, as well as prescription pills, illicit drugs and marijuana. Drivers can speed up the process by having their licenses out and ready to show officers.
