Details surrounding a shooting incident in South Cottonwood have been clarified by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. There’s been a longstanding property line dispute between the Mingarelli Family and the Watts Family on Tabitha Court in the Bowman area. The issue boiled over Thursday afternoon when 59-year-old Ervin Keith Watts allegedly tried to settle it with a shotgun and opened fire on the Mingarellis. Someone with a handgun apparently returned fire but watts wasn’t struck. 38-year-old Dustin Alan Mingarelli suffered what the sheriff’s office describes as serious traumatic injuries from a shotgun blast. His father, 69-year-old John Lenny Mingarelli, was also hospitalized with less serious injuries. Watts was booked into jail on 2 counts of attempted homicide with bail set at a Million Dollars.
