Man Killed By Train Near Downtown Redding

Redding Police say that a man was killed after being struck by a train early Tuesday morning. Officers were called to the area of South Street and Railroad Avenue a little before 1AM Tuesday and found a deceased man on the railroad tracks south of Placer Street. The man was apparently struck by a southbound Union Pacific freight train. The man’s identity is not known at this time. Union Pacific is handling the investigation.
