A fire burning near Burney has grown to 600 acres, with 23% containment. The Berry Fire was sparked by lightning last Tuesday 5 miles southeast of Big Bend in the Chalk Mountain area. Ground crews have had a very difficult time accessing the fire, which is slowly spreading to the south.
