Police Say Bicyclist Stabbed By Homeless Woman Near City Hall

A homeless woman was apparently stabbed by another homeless woman in Redding early Monday morning. At 4AM a Redding Police Officer was flagged down behind city hall by 29-year-old Michelle Pruitt. She had multiple stab wounds to her left arm and the back of her head. She said she was riding her bicycle by the canal next to city hall when a woman named Sarah attacked her with a knife. Officers found 27-year-old Sarah Emily Duran behind city hall and arrested her for assault with a deadly weapon. Pruitt was hospitalized. The two had reportedly exchanged hostile words before the altercation became violent. Police say alcohol is a likely factor.
