Teen Struck By Vehicle On Hartnell Avenue

A young teenager on a bicycle was struck by a car in East Redding Monday afternoon. A little after 3:30PM the 14-year-old boy was eastbound on Hartnell Avenue and witnesses at scene said he apparently didn’t notice that the light at Victor Avenue had just turned red. As he rode in the crosswalk he was unable to stop in time before crossing into the path of a Honda Civic that was turning from northbound Victor to eastbound Hartnell. The car was only going about 15 miles an hour at the time of the impact. The boy had not been wearing a helmet and he suffered a bump on his head when he hit the pavement, along with various scrapes and bruises. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
