Containment Slowly Growing On Area Wildfires

Despite a sharp change in weather conditions, the huge fire complexes in the mountains of the Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests continue to expand, though containment is improving. The Eclipse Complex of three fires west of Happy Camp have burned more than 100,000 acres, with 45% overall containment. The five fires of the Salmon – August Complex in the Marble Mountains west of Etna have burned around 65,900 acres with overall containment of 50%  The Orleans Complex in the Six Rivers National Forest has burned more than 27,200 acres with overall containment of 53%. A fire that started last Tuesday in the Yolla Bolly Middle Eel Wilderness has grown to 3100 acres. The Buck Fire is burning in dense understory and heavy timber in a remote area of forest with just 15% containment.
