Rancheria Will Fund “Quality Of Life” Prosecutor

Redding Rancheria announced that it will provide over 200-Thousand Dollars to fund additional staff at the Shasta County Distirict Attorney’s Office to assist in prosecuting misdemeanor quality of life crimes. Local government representatives have been trying to find a solution to the various issues that our local community has seen due to an increase in the number of misdemeanor violations. The Rancheria will provide the funding to hire a full time community prosecutor who will work with staff at the DA’s Office and local law enforcement to pursue charges. A formalized partnership will be negotiated in the near future and the funding will support the additional staff for at least one year. Our area has seen an increase in crime attributed to the AB109 prison releases as well as several propositions approved by voters that changed some crimes for felonies to misdemeanors.
