The Shasta County Probation Department will be hosting a workshop to help develop a cross-system map that identifies how people with mental illness and substance abuse disorders come into contact with the local criminal justice system. The department is partnering with Public Research Associates to come up with a map that will help identify areas of concern that can help improve the way those with mental illnesses pass through the local criminal system. Facilitators and the public will identify local resources and find gaps in the services provided. The group will come up with goals that are attainable with little or no cost. Local public safety officials have committed to attend the 1.5 day workshop Tuesday and Wednesday at Redding City Hall. the public is invited to attend.
