Man Suffers Collapsed Lung In Stabbing

A Corning man is accused of stabbing another man with a large fillet knife. At 11 O’clock Monday night Tehama County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to a home on El Paso Avenue in Corning. 32-year-old Christopher Martin said he had ridden his bicycle to a home on McLane Avenue to check on his ex-girlfriend because he was concerned that she was being abused by her new boyfriend, 63-year-old David Michael Murr, Senior. Martin said when he got to the address he called into an open window of the trailer twice and got no answer. When he yelled out a third time, Murr came to the window and allegedly stabbed martin in the chest. Martin rode away on his bike back to El Paso Avenue and called 9-1-1. He was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital with a collapsed lung. He’s now in stable condition. Deputies went to the trailer on McLane avenue and spoke with Murr. He eventually admitted to stabbing Martin with a 17 inch fillet knife, according to deputies, who booked him into jail for attempted murder. The girlfriend was also contacted. She denied any abuse.
