Officers Patience Recovers Stolen Generator

The observation of a business owner and the patience of a police officer led to a theft arrest, according to Anderson Police. Tuesday the owner of Apex Fencing called the APD to report finding the company’s stolen generator and fence posts for sale online. They also had surveillance images of the thief, who they said they recognized as an employee of another Anderson business. The investigating officer went to the other business and spoke with 44-year-old Jason Goltz, who denied any connection to the stolen goods. The officer then parked down the street from Goltz’s home near Alexander Avenue and Loop Street. He watched and waited until 4:25PM Tuesday afternoon, when he saw Goltz driving away from his house, apparently with a large generator in his backseat. He was stopped and the victim from Apex Fencing identified the generator as theirs. During questioning police say Goltz eventually admitted he had been stealing from Apex for several months.
