DUI Checkpoint Planned For Friday Night In Redding

Working with grant money, Redding Police have been doing frequent sobriety checkpoints lately. Another one will be conducted Friday evening. The checkpoint will be in effect between the hours of 6PM and 11PM. The department does not announce checkpoint locations ahead of time, but it’ll be somewhere within city limits. The RPD is supporting a new effort by the state office of traffic safety to educate drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze”. Drivers will be screened for signs of impairment from alcohol, as well as prescription pills, illicit drugs and marijuana. Drivers can speed up the process by having their licenses out and ready to show officers.
