A Shasta County man has been sentenced for brutally abusing his wife. Matthew Enock Walkley was granted probation twice for felony domestic violence when he attacked the same woman again, strangling her until she lost consciousness. The victim said she was sure he would kill her so she scratched him as hard as she could to be sure that if she was found dead she would have his DNA under her fingernails. Walkley was given the maximum sentence of 12 years in state prison.
