Buck Fire Grows To Over 8,500 Acres

Forest Service fire crews have taken steps to prevent further growth of a fire in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness. The Buck Fire southwest of Redding is burning in a lot of heavy dead and downed timber in a remote area near Black Rock Mountain with no recent fire history. It was sparked by lightning on September 12th. Firing operations around the perimeter are complete and the only burning expected now will be islands of unburned trees within the containment lines. The Buck Fire has burned 8,065 acres with 40% containment.
