A man in the process of being booked into the Tehama County Jail was found dead. On Friday afternoon a little after 3 correctional officers found 52-year-old Randy Burril Dunham hanging in a holding cell in the booking area of the jail. Life-saving efforts were attempted but it was too late and he was pronounced dead at the jail. Dunham had been arrested earlier in the day for violating a domestic violence restraining order and he was still waiting to be booked. He was locked alone inside the holding cell, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. An autopsy is planned.
