Searchers Locate Body Of Missing Boy Under 200 Feet Of Water

The body of Austin Strole has apparently been found on the bottom of Lake Shasta. The 12-year-old Redding boy was lost in a boating accident July 3rd. He had been tubing when the tow boat hit a series of waves that caused it to turn and run over Strole. A young girl was driving the boat and the only adult on board, 50-year-old Robert Noftz, was arrested for boating under the influence of alcohol. On Friday a search was being done by Gene and Sandy Ralston and John Zeaman. The Ralston team specializes in the recovery of drowning victims. They found the body about 200 feet deep during a sonar scan of the lake’s main channel west of Digger Bay Marina. After contacting boating safety deputies, who responded to the scene with a coroner’s office investigator, the Ralston team used a remotely operated vessel to bring the body up to the surface.
