Wildfires Rage In Butte County

A local state of emergency has been declared in Butte County as crews are battling several large wildfires. The wind driven blazes have burned over 10,000 acres. A number of evacuations are in place. The Cherokee Fire burning north of Oroville is 7500 acres. The La Porte Fire near Bangor has burned 3200 acres. Farther south in Yuba County, the Cascade Fire, near Loma Lica has burned 7200 acres. In Lake County, the Sulphur Fire, is burning on the north side of Clear Lake. It has grown to 2000 acres.
