Woman Reports Being Robbed At Gunpoint In Shasta Lake

A Shasta Lake City woman was robbed of her marijuana plants at gunpoint, according to the sheriff’s office. At around 5:30PM Friday afternoon deputies were dispatched to the Latigo Way home of Julia Thompson. She told them that she had interrupted two men in her backyard as they were stealing marijuana plants from her garden. She said she recognized one of them as Ronald Dale Kuykendall. When she confronted the intruders and tried to stop the theft, Kuykendall reportedly pointed a handgun at her head, causing her to back down.  he then allegedly took three large marijuana plants and left with the other man in a gray Ford Mustang. When deputies went to Kuykendall’s home at 2124 Elizabeth Street in Shasta Lake they saw that the gray Mustang was parked out front. More deputies arrived and surrounded the duplex as a CHP helicopter hovered overhead. Deputies made a P.A. announcement telling the occupants to come outside and three people came to the front door and looked out but only Kuykendall came outside. The other two people refused to exit and after about 40 minutes deputies went in after them. Identified as Jerry and Sandra Shepard, they were arrested for obstructing or delaying police. The home was searched but no sign was found of the marijuana plants, the gun allegedly used or the unknown accomplice.  Kuykendall, who is on felony probation for assault with a deadly weapon, was booked for robbery.
