Woman Arrested After Alleged Carjacking

A Redding woman is accused of carjacking a construction truck from a roadwork site. A little before 10PM Tuesday night an employee of Axner Construction reported the theft of their truck. They said a woman had gotten into the idling truck near the intersection of Placer and Bueunaventura. One of the crew tried to stop her but she sped away at high speed and the worker was slightly injured as he fell from the moving truck. The truck was found by Redding Police just outside city limits abandoned. A K-9 was used to pick up a scent and follow a track to a nearby field, where 46-year-old Alice Kelsey was found. Just then a nearby resident called to report a female prowler. As Kelsey was being taken into custody she reportedly kicked an officer several times. She was booked into jail for carjacking, assault on an officer, and resisting arrest.
