Groups Raising Funds For Helena Fire Victims

While a lot of attention is focused on the incredible devastation in the wine country, there’s plenty of need much closer in Trinity County. The victims of the Helena Fire haven’t gotten much attention, due to several factors including the remoteness of the area and the very restricted road access. The blaze destroyed 72 homes in the area of Junction City and its surroundings. Many of those homes were not insured, and the human cost is enormous. There is a major donation site serving Helena Fire victims. The Human Response Network in Weaverville is at 111 Mountain View Street. They’re open 8AM to 5PM weekdays, but they close at 4PM on Fridays. Monetary donations are most needed and can be mailed to North Fork Grange at Box 5 Junction City 96048 or Weaverville Lions Club Fire Fund at Box 386 Weaverville 96093. Many individual stories and needs can be found by searching “Helena Fire Donations” on Facebook.
