“Captain Awesome” Hopes To Bring Awareness To Mens Mental Health

A new Shasta County Health and Human Services campaign encourages men to take charge of their mental health. Men die of suicide at a rate 3-and-a-half times higher than women. Some experts say it’s partly because men have a hard time confronting their feelings and expressing them to others. A new ad campaign uses humor to try and break the ice, featuring a character called “Captain Awesome” that’ll be seen in various advertising media. Details are at shastasuicideprevention.com/men.
