Redding Joins Online Portal On Taxpayer Transparency

City of Redding officials say information about how they spend taxpayers’ money is more transparent, accessible and accountable than ever before. The city has just launched a program called “Opengov”, which is already in use by more than 1600 state, county and city governments. It’s an online feature that provides public access to a wide range of financial data. It’s easy to find current data, as well as archived material that can be viewed in a historical perspective. While it’s just got financial information right now, it soon will be loaded with other data such as crime statistics and trends. The portal can be found at cityofredding.org.
