A man has been sentenced to a decade in prison for brutalizing his wife. Last month a Shasta County jury found Willie Weekly guilty of crimes he committed in July of last year. In one incident, Weekly strangled his wife until she was unconscious. Nine days later he forced her to perform a sex act on him. The next day she reported the abuse to staff at Shasta Regional Medical Center and Redding Police got involved. The victim went to stay at a shelter, but a few days later she returned home to gather some clothing and other things. Weekly took that opportunity to beat her up again. He was sentenced Monday to ten years in state prison.
