Weekend Cleanup Removes Over A Ton Of Garbage From Henderson Open Space

A multi-agency sweep of Redding parks and trails last week brought in more than a ton-and-a half of trash and belongings from illegal homeless camps. While the haul was impressive, it was just another day at work for RPD Community Service Officer Bob Brannon. His crew is constantly on the lookout for trash to pick up and encampments to clear. On Saturday Brannon was joined by an army of volunteers, 6 of them from Shasta Support Services and 63 of them from Bethel Church. They took on the substantial challenge of clearing the Henderson Open Space, which is the area south of the Cypress Avenue Bridge on the east side of the river. The group removed garbage, debris and camping materials totaling more than 2200 pounds.
